West End Aquatics - Learn to Swim

Welcome back to West End's Fall swimming lessons! All classes are limited to four (4) swimmers ages 4‐15. Developmental Team is limited to 12 swimmers. There are no make‐up classes for days missed, and no refunds. Tuition is due upon registration. To register, please download and fill out the registration form, then bring it with tuition to the front desk at West End. Registration must be received by 12:00 noon on Friday before session for which you are registering.

Details:

"Level Classes" meet for 30 minutes each day. Developmental Team meets for 1 hour. Please fill out the registration form and send or bring this form to West End. Descriptions for class levels are on the reverse side of this form. There are no make‐up classes for dates missed. Swimmers should arrive in a swim suit, shoes, and a towel. Goggles are optional. Swimmers with long hair should tie it back as securely as possible. PLEASE DO NOT WEAR RASH GUARDS OR ANY OTHER SHIRT‐LIKE CLOTHING TO LEARN TO SWIM. They do not provide body warmth, and they impede progress. Non‐member swimmers are allowed 30 minutes practice time before their lesson time and will be expected to leave the club after their lesson. Rain policy: We DO hold classes in rainy weather. Classes are cancelled ONLY for lightning or other forced evacuation.

Refund Policy: Once your registration is confirmed, there are no refunds. There are no make‐up classes for dates missed. Classes close after maximum number of swimmers have registered.

Class Descriptions

Level Descriptions: At West End, we aim to develop life‐long swimmers. Strong swimming leads to a love of water, lifetime fitness opportunities,and most importantly, a healthy respect for water safety. Swimmers learn the following skills in the courses below. For example, if your swimmer can do some Freestyle but not Backstroke, s/he should be in Level 3.

Level 1: Blow bubbles, submerge face, body, float on back and front, glide and kick in streamline, basic safety rules.

Level 2: All Level 1 skills plus: Streamline kick front and back, kickboard kick, beginning Freestyle (15yds), surface diving to 4'.

Level 3: All Level 2 skills plus: Freestyle and Backstroke kick and strokes (25yds), surface diving to 7', jumps from edge, begin treading water.

Level 4: All Level 3 skills plus: Deep water bobs, Freestyle and Backstroke endurance (50yds), beginning Breaststroke, treading water, beginning dives.

Level 5: All Level 4 skills plus: Freestyle, Backstroke, and Breaststroke build endurance (75yds), beginning Butterfly, turns.
